SANDAG Network Themes Open Houses

What is a theme?

A theme is basically a goal or value SANDAG will keep in mind while developing the RTP. For example, if “lowering greenhouse gases” were a theme, the RTP would be constructed with the intent of lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Ultimately, multiple themes will be selected, but right now none of the themes in the mix address climate change, pollution, or public transit. Sierra Club will be showing up at every one of these open houses to advocate for including those themes, but we need YOUR help.

What can you do?

It’s easy, really — Just email us at join@sandac.org to let us know which open house you’re interested in attending. There is a list of open houses, along with links to more information about each workshop, at the end of this email. From there, we’ll email you a set of talking points to make sure we’re on the same page, and then you can just show up at the open house. That set of talking points is also at the bottom of this page.

Even if you don’t want to speak directly with the SANDAG staff who will be scattered around the room, you can fill out a survey or submit a written comment. And if you’re unable to attend, please fill out this online survey, available from April 23 through May 18. For just ten minutes of your time, you could help save San Diego transportation from itself.
